DSVS Records
Dave realized through his work with Connecting Voices that the artists with whom he worked could benefit from a venue like an independent label. The
magazine could generate articles about the singers but couldn't fully display their talents.
In late 1996 Dave found the time and opportunity to
complete the first compilation C.D. of DSVS Records and it was released in early 1997. After the second project in 1998, Dave started having fantasies
about producing one song that would include many singers. One of Dave's students was a woman who was on staff for Narada Michael Walden as a song
writer and had written quite a few songs for singers such as T.E.V.I.N. Campbell(in fact, one of her songs for Tevin called "Tell Me What You Want
Me To Do" went to Number One). This student's name was Sal Dakota and she had co-written a song called "If You Believe" that had not been placed.
It was the perfect vehicle for the project that Dave had envisioned (see "If You Believe" section for the making of). Four months later the song was
finished (with all the different versions and music video) and was released. It peaked #32 on the Gavin Hot AC chart in early 1999. This led to the
production of the 2000 sampler, which is a double C.D. and consists of 25 songs.
Look for more releases from DSVS this
year. We are planning a live recording of a vocal showcase scheduled for September and should be out for purchase at the end of this year.
