Chest Register The term referred to as the lowest part of one's range. It is also the register most used for speech and is called "chest voice" because a by-product is the vibration felt in the chest. During chest voice the vocal cords are vibrating at their full length as sound waves bounce off the hard palate before leaving the mouth.
